The Bank of Tioga Brings Anti-Bully Speaker Jon Pritikin to Local High Schools

September 28, 2017

The Bank of Tioga presented the second year of TBOT Promise on Wednesday, September 27 at Divide County High School and Tioga High School.

TBOT Promise is an annual event put on by The Bank of Tioga, where an inspirational speaker is brought in to speak at both schools in Tioga and Crosby, North Dakota. This comes as a result of the bank’s promise to reinvest back into youth programs for the communities they serve.

The 2017 speaker was Jon Prikitin, a man known for breaking two Guinness World Records. Jon combines his attention-grabbing “feats of strength” with an even more impressive message of how he overcame incredible some challenges throughout his life.

The messages Jon teaches is that every child is worth investing in, no one should feel alone, and a person’s future is not defined by their past. He has reached over 8 million students around the planet since the beginning of his “Feel the Power” presentations back in 1994. Locally, Jon reached about 345 students on Wednesday, September 27 with his 35-minute motivational speech at Divide County High School and Tioga High School.

“The students at Divide County responded well to the message and talked positively throughout the day about ways they can be heroes for each other!” said Judy Harding, M.S. School Counseling for Divide County. “Jon did a fantastic job of keeping the student's attention through his examples of strength.”

Tioga High School Principal, Brodie Odegaard, said the students in Tioga reacted similarly.

“All I hear are positive things from the students,” said Odegaard. “We are so grateful to have The Bank of Tioga come in with a speaker for the second year in a row.”
